The project
Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) is a renowned research institute that developed a scientific method to calculate trust scores sources within a network that publish about a specific topic. We did research on user needs to make a design from scratch, test and iterate this to become the prototype STAR reliability dashboard.

Overview in source network
Users can search by a topic of their interest to find corresponding sources on an overview page. Here it’s possible to sort them by the different (sub) scores and filter by source type to find the sources of interest fast and easy.

Explaining the score system
In order to make users understand the method, we start with a guided tour that explains the different sub-scores. In this way, we provide the necessary information step by step, at exactly the right moment, so users can understand the data presented.

Being in the driver’s seat
Depending on industry-specific or personal preferences, users can adjust to what extent the sub-scores impact the trust score. We offer both standard preset options and the ability to fine-tune the weights down to the decimal point. This gives users maximum control and ensures that the outcome is as relevant as possible.

This is just the beginning – development is in full swing. We’d be happy to tell you more about the various features and the current status of the project.
